Formation of I Go Dye Persona

The name “I Go Dye” was inspired by the phonetic similarity to his surname, Agoda. Translated, it means “Initiative Guide on Developing Youth Endowment.” This persona would later become synonymous with his passion for addressing societal issues, particularly those affecting young children and the underprivileged.

Comedic Journey and Early Career

Agoda’s mother, Princess Emily, redirected him from the United College of Commerce to Essi College, Warri, where his uncle, a teacher, could monitor his activities. It was at Essi College that he met his lifelong friend, Otagware Onodjeyeke, now known as Igosave. Together, they started presenting mock news on Delta Broadcasting Service in 1994, tackling various societal issues. Agoda’s comedic talent earned him a contract as a stand-up comedian at Prest Motel in Benin City, marking the beginning of a successful career.

In the year 2000, Agoda made a significant breakthrough, featuring in Africa’s biggest comedy show, Night of A Thousand Laughs. His decade-long performance on the show led to him being honored as the most outstanding comedian by Opa Williams, the producer of the show.
