Stanley Omah Didia, better known as Omah Lay, was born on May 19, 1997, in the Nigerian city of Port Harcourt. His roots trace back to Egbeda, Emohua, in the Rivers Local Government Area of Rivers State. Growing up, he attended Comprehensive High School in Rivers State before furthering his education at the University of Port Harcourt. Omah Lay’s musical journey was deeply influenced by his family’s musical background, with his grandfather playing instruments for renowned singer Celestine Ukwu, and his father being a drummer.

Career Beginnings

Omah Lay started his musical journey initially as a rapper, adopting the stage name “Lil King.” However, he later transitioned to songwriting and music production, releasing the tracks “Do Not Disturb” and “Hello Brother” in April 2019. 

In June 2019, Omah Lay signed with the record label KeyQaad and took a hiatus of seven months to focus on his craft. During this break, he worked diligently on his debut EP, “Get Layd.” The EP, released on 22 May 2020, soared to the top of the Nigerian Apple Music charts, with all five tracks reaching the top 15.
