The twins attended St. Murumba College in Jos, where their musical talents began to blossom. Their shared interest in music became evident as they participated in various school performances, showcasing an early indication of the duo’s innate musical chemistry.

As adolescents, the Okoye twins faced the challenges that often accompany pursuing a career in the arts. However, their dedication and unwavering belief in their musical abilities fueled their determination to overcome obstacles and make a mark in the Nigerian music scene.

Formation of P-Square

In the late ’90s, the pivotal moment arrived when Paul and Peter Okoye officially formed the musical powerhouse known as P-Square. The duo’s name was a nod to the alphabetical similarity of the word “Square” and the first letter of their names. This union marked the beginning of a remarkable journey that would redefine the landscape of African music.

P-Square quickly gained traction, capturing the hearts of music enthusiasts with their dynamic performances and infectious tunes. Their early works reflected a unique blend of R&B, hip hop, and Afrobeats, setting them apart in a competitive industry. The Okoye twins’ harmonious vocals and charismatic stage presence became their signature, earning them a dedicated fan base.

Musical Career Ascendancy

The duo’s breakthrough came with the release of their debut album, “Last Nite,” in 2003, followed by “Get Squared” in 2005. These albums featured hit singles like “Senorita” and “Bizzy Body,” establishing P-Square as a force to be reckoned with in the Nigerian music scene. The brothers’ ability to seamlessly fuse different musical genres resonated with a diverse audience, contributing to their widespread popularity.

“Game Over,” released in 2007, solidified P-Square’s status as musical icons. The album featured chart-topping tracks such as “Do Me” and “No One Like You,” further expanding their influence beyond Nigeria’s borders. P-Square’s success was not confined to the African continent; they gained international recognition and performed on global stages, cementing their place as one of Africa’s most celebrated musical exports.

Paul, as Rudeboy, played a crucial role in the group’s success. His soulful vocals and songwriting skills complemented Peter’s talents, creating a synergy that defined P-Square’s sound. The duo continued to release hit albums like “Danger” (2009) and “The Invasion” (2011), maintaining their dominance in the music industry.

Challenges and Solo Career

Despite their shared success, internal conflicts led to a temporary hiatus for P-Square in 2017. This marked a turning point in Paul Okoye’s career, as he embarked on a solo journey under the name Rudeboy. The transition showcased his ability to stand alone as an artist while preserving the essence of the musical magic that characterized P-Square.

Rudeboy’s solo debut, “Fire Department Inc.,” released in 2019, demonstrated his resilience and adaptability. The album featured tracks like “Reason With Me” and “Audio Money,” reaffirming Rudeboy’s place as a solo artist with a distinct musical identity. His ability to navigate the complexities of a solo career while maintaining relevance in the ever-evolving music industry highlighted his individual artistic prowess.

Wife And Children

Paul Okoye is a family man, was married to Anita Isama, whom he met in 2004 while he was a student at the University of Abuja. The couple has two children together.

Their first child, Andre Okoye, was born in 2013. Four years later, on July 9, 2017, Paul and Anita welcomed a set of twins, Nadia and Nathan, expanding their family to five members.

Anita initiated divorce proceedings against Paul, pointing to five key reasons: infidelity, a fabricated separation, Paul being an absent parent, allegations of fraud, and other difficult circumstances. In December 2022, a Nigerian High Court in the Federal Capital Territory, Maitama, Abuja, officially approved the divorce of Anita and her separated husband, Paul Okoye.

Paul Okoye, is reportedly now in a relationship with Ivy Ifeoma, a fashion model and influencer with over 92,000 followers on Instagram. Their romance began after the singer’s wife, Anita, filed for divorce amid reports of a marital crisis. Before Paul publicly acknowledged their relationship, Ifeoma had posted a affectionate video from their time together on his birthday.
