Early Life

On 21 November 2000 in Orile Iganmu, in Surulere, Lagos State, Charles Chibueze Chukwu, known by his stage name Crayon was born. Hailing from Ebonyi State, his family moved to Ojo, Lagos, when he was just 7 years old. He grew up in a household of four. For his secondary education, he attended Treasure Court College in Ojo.

Career Beginnings

In May 2019, Crayon’s destiny took a musical turn when he inked a deal with Blowtime Entertainment, an imprint under the renowned Mavin Records. July 12, 2019, witnessed the unveiling of Crayon’s debut extended play (EP), aptly titled “Cray Cray.” Released under the banners of Mavin Records and Blowtime Entertainment.

Building on the success of his debut, Crayon’s journey continued to evolve. On 26 March 2021, he released his second EP, “Twelve A.M,” again under the Mavin Records and Blowtime Entertainment labels. This collection of tracks demonstrated Crayon’s growth as an artist, presenting a more mature and refined musical style. 

March 19, 2021, marked the release of the single “Jackpot,” a collaboration with the talented Bella Shmurda. This track was part of Crayon’s second EP, “Twelve A.M,” and showcased his versatility as an artist. On July 6, 2022, he unveiled “Ijo (Laba Laba),” a single that quickly ascended to the fifth spot on the Turntable Top 100 chart.

Musical Footprints

As a lead artist, Crayon has delivered a string of memorable singles. In 2020, “Kpano,” “Shima,” “Mo Bad,” “On Code” (with London), “Sometime,” and “Do Me.” The year 2021 brought forth “Jackpot” (featuring Bella Shmurda) and “Excuse Me (Rock You)” (featuring Toby Shang). In 2022, “Ijo (Laba Laba)” and the collaborative effort “Overloading (Overdose)” with Mavins, Crayon & Ayra Starr featuring Ladipoe, Magixx & Boy Spyce added more layers to his musical narrative.
