Education

Adelakun’s educational pursuits led him to become a trained electrical engineer, having completed his training at Kareem Electrical Engineering Company in Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State. In 1968, he joined the Nigerian Army and was stationed at the Nigerian Army Barrack, specifically the Engineering Construction Regiment in Ede, Oyo State. It was during this time that he underwent a transformative experience, leading to his baptism at Christ Apostolic Church in 1972 and the commencement of his evangelistic endeavors.

Adelakun’s musical career began to take shape in 1976 when he was transferred to Kaduna and became a member of the Christ Apostolic Church choir. This marked the beginning of his journey as a gospel singer. In 1978, he released his debut album titled “Emi yio kokiki Re,” laying the foundation for his musical contributions to the gospel genre. The pivotal moment came in 1982 when he retired from the Nigerian Army to fully dedicate his efforts to gospel music. In the same year, he established a musical group called “Ayewa International Gospel Singers,” solidifying his commitment to spreading the Christian message through his music.
