Nigerian music star Kingsley Okonkwo, popularly known as Kcee, has opened up about his long-standing bond with his younger brother and successful businessman, Emeka Okonkwo, better known as E-Money.
Speaking candidly on the Tea With Tay podcast, Kcee revealed that E-Money used to manage him during his early music career — long before the luxury lifestyle and wealth E-Money is now known for.
“E-Money used to be my manager when I blew up as KC-Presh,” Kcee said. “I made money before him. I even contributed to his wedding. But as time went on, he started making serious money — even more than I did.”
Kcee praised his brother’s business acumen, acknowledging that E-Money’s investments have provided consistent financial returns, while the music industry can be unpredictable.
“If I had put the same number of years I’ve given to music into business, I’d probably be ten times richer. Artists live flashy lives, but the income isn’t always consistent. Sometimes there’s a hit, sometimes there’s none.”
Reflecting on their deep bond, Kcee shared touching memories of their childhood, recalling how he was present at the hospital when E-Money was born and stayed with him for three days.
“We’ve always been close. I even gave him the name ‘E-Money’. Back then, I was K-Money, and our group had P-Money too (Prech). We spoke the name into existence before the money ever came. And when it did, the name stuck.”
Kcee also revealed that some people once advised him to stop hyping E-Money in his songs, fearing his younger brother might outshine him. But for Kcee, there’s no room for envy.
“People told me, ‘Stop shouting E-Money in your songs — he might become bigger than you.’ But I refused. I’ve never been jealous. I’m proud of him.”
Through his words, Kcee paints a picture not just of sibling love, but of mutual support, loyalty, and an unshakable bond that has stood the test of time — and fame.
