Early Life
Born in Houston, Texas, and of Nigerian origin, Naeto C’s journey began with roots in both the United States and Nigeria. His early professional life saw him appointed as the Special Assistant on Lagos Liaison by the Governor of Imo State, Emeka Ihedioha.
Education
Completing secondary education in Lagos, Naeto ventured to the United States for higher studies at SUNY Old Westbury and later at George Washington University. During this time, he formed a musical brotherhood, the World Famous Academy, with Uzikwendu and Ikechukwu. Although initially pursuing a degree in Biology, Naeto’s passion for music led him to graduate in 2004 and later pursue an MSc in Energy Studies at the University of Dundee in Scotland. Notably, he achieved a Master’s of Science in Energy Economics from the University Of Dundee in 2020.
Career Beginnings
Storm Records, a Lagos-based record company, sought to sign the World Famous Academy, marking the beginning of Naeto C’s music career. Upon returning to Nigeria in 2006, Naeto worked as an in-house producer with his team “ET-Quake,” contributing to the success of artists like Sasha, Dare Art-Alade, GT the Guitarman, and others. His notable production achievements include the song “I Believe,” co-produced with VC Perez. Naeto’s debut album, “You Know My ‘P’,” released in May 2008, showcased his versatility, breaking boundaries in both hip-hop and Afro-beat genres.
Musical Prowess and Achievements
Recording over 60 songs within a year, Naeto demonstrated his prowess, co-producing with ET-Quake and collaborating with artists like Sheun and Hugh Masekela. From the Fela-inspired “Lagos City Hustla” to the melodious “Sitting on Top,” Naeto C’s debut album garnered acclaim for transcending contemporary hip-hop sounds.
