Pastor Biodun Fatoyinbo is a Nigerian pastor, entrepreneur, and the founder of the Commonwealth of Zion Assembly (COZA), a popular and fast-growing Pentecostal church based in Abuja, Nigeria.
Early Life and Education
Biodun Fatoyinbo was born on January 1, 1978, in Kwara state, Nigeria. Pastor Biodun Fatoyinbo completed his primary, secondary, and initial tertiary education at the University of Ilorin. However, his time at the university took a tumultuous turn when he faced rustication during his third year (300 level) due to his involvement in cult-related activities on the campus. In a surprising turn of events, the University of Ilorin later claimed to have no records of his attendance, which led to a viral video on social media in 2017. In the video, Pastor Biodun appeared to confirm that he had been a chief priest of the Black Axe confraternity, leading to the termination of his studentship. Undeterred by this setback, he later resumed his studies and successfully graduated from the University of Benin.

Pastor Biodun Fatoyinbo’s journey in ministry began with the establishment of COZA as a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) in Ilorin, Kwara State, back in 1999. Initially comprising of four pastors and a small congregation, the church has since grown into a megachurch with a staggering membership of over 20,000 individuals and a thriving online fellowship. Expanding its reach, COZA set up four other campuses, including the Lagos campus in 2012, the Port Harcourt campus in 2016, the Abuja campus in 2008, and even the Dubai campus in the UAE in 2017.
The church’s influence also extended to the realm of music with the creation of the Gratitude Music Band, a talented group that garnered recognition and accolades. Notably, their hit single “Raba Raba Eh” secured them the prestigious UK Gospel Touch Music award, further solidifying COZA’s impact beyond the realm of religious services.

In 2013, he was accused of adultery by a former church member, Ese Walter, who claimed to have had a sexual relationship with him. The allegations sparked widespread outrage and debate, with some supporting him while others criticized him heavily.
In 2019, a more serious scandal emerged when a photographer and social media influencer, Busola Dakolo, accused Fatoyinbo of rape. She alleged that he had raped her twice when she was a teenager and he was her pastor. The accusation led to public protests, online campaigns, and calls for Fatoyinbo’s resignation. He denied the allegations and took a leave of absence from the pulpit, later returning to lead the church.

Wife and Family
In the year 2000, Pastor Biodun Fatoyinbo married Pastor Modela Fatoyinbo. However, their journey towards parenthood was met with challenges as they faced several years of infertility. Despite the discouraging prognosis from medical professionals, they remained steadfast in their faith and continued to trust in God’s plan for their lives. Their unwavering belief and reliance on divine intervention were rewarded, as in due time, they were blessed with the gift of children.
