Early Life and Education

Zlatan Ibile was born in Ilorin, Kwara State, to Mr. and Mrs. Omoniyi. Despite spending his formative years in Kwara, he proudly hails from Ekiti State in the South West region of Nigeria. Zlatan’s journey with music began during his secondary school days when he would freestyle in Yoruba, his native dialect, to the delight of friends and schoolmates.

As he honed his skills, infusing Pidgin English into his rap style, Zlatan’s music evolved. He spent countless hours composing songs, and his visits to recording studios in Ilorin and Ogun State became a regular affair.

Zlatan pursued higher education, graduating with a National Diploma in Business Administration from Moshood Abiola Polytechnic. His musical journey started in the Church, playing the drums, and gradually transformed into a full-fledged career.

Musical Journey and Impact

Zlatan shot into the limelight with the release of “My Body” featuring Olamide in 2017. This single marked the beginning of his rise in the Nigerian music scene. His debut album, “Zanku,” released in 2019, propelled him to international recognition, establishing him as a force to be reckoned with in Afrobeats.

Known for his unique blend of indigenous rap and captivating dance moves, Zlatan has become a leading figure in the industry. His sophomore album, “Resan,” dropped in 2021, further solidifying his position.

Rise to Stardom

Zlatan’s breakthrough came at the age of 19 when he won Airtel’s One Mic Campus Tour in 2014. This victory fueled his determination to pursue a career in music. The turning point arrived in 2017 with the release of “My Body” alongside Olamide, a track that resonated across Nigeria.

In 2018, Zlatan gained widespread recognition through collaborations, notably “Able God” with Chinko Ekun and Lil Kesh. The release of “Zanku,” accompanied by a distinctive dance routine, further solidified his status in the industry. Collaborations with Davido on “Osanle” and Burna Boy on “Killin Dem” showcased his versatility.

His debut album, “Zanku,” featured hits like “Shotan” with Tiwa Savage and “Gbeku” with Burna Boy. Zlatan’s energetic and infectious music style earned him an endorsement deal with Coca-Cola in 2019.

Building a Legacy

In January 2020, Zlatan took a significant step in his career by launching Zanku Records. By February, he introduced the artists signed to the label, including Papisnoop, Oberz, and Jamo Pyper. The label also welcomed Visionary Pictures, Rexxie (music producer), Manager Jiggy, and PR Consultant Biesloaded.

Zlatan’s commitment to nurturing talent and expanding his musical empire is evident through Zanku Records’ contributions to the industry.

Arrest and Release, EndSARS Protest

Zlatan faced a challenging period in May 2019 when he, along with Naira Marley and others, was arrested by the EFCC in connection with internet fraud and money laundering allegations. Despite the setback, he was released on administrative bail, continuing his musical journey.

During the EndSARS protest in October 2020, Zlatan used his platform to express concern over the Lekki Toll Gate incident, releasing the single “Soro Soke.”

Discography and Collaborations

Zlatan’s discography is a testament to his versatility, with notable singles like “Quilox,” “Unripe Pawpaw,” “The Matter,” and “Lagos Anthem.” Collaborations with artists like Burna Boy, Tiwa Savage, and Davido showcase his influence across different genres.
