Dr SID, born Sidney Onoriode Esiri, hails from Delta State, Nigeria. His roots trace back to Lagos, where he spent his formative years. Born into a family of four children, his mother, a fashion designer, and his father, the late Justus Esiri, an acclaimed actor, were integral in shaping his early life. Justus Esiri was a Member of the Order of the Niger (MON) and gained fame for his role in the popular Nigerian sitcom of the 1980s, “The Village Headmaster.”
From a young age, Dr SID harbored a passion for entertainment. Despite graduating from the Nigerian Air Force Secondary School in Ikeja, he diverted from his initial dreams of becoming an entertainer and pursued a degree in Dentistry and Dental Surgery at the University of Ibadan. Career Beginnings
In 1999, Dr SID ventured into the music scene by signing with Trybe Records as a choreographer, a label known for introducing the Nigerian hip-hop group Trybesmen. For the next three years, he toured as a backup dancer for Trybesmen. In 2002, his break came when he joined Da Trybe, contributing to the groundbreaking song “OYA” alongside notable artists. Following this, he recorded his debut single “Don’t Stop,” topping the MBI top ten for eight weeks.

After completing his dental qualification in 2004, Dr SID temporarily moved to the UK, collaborating with artists such as JJC & the 419 Squad, Felix Duke, KAS, R70, D’prince, and D’Banj. In 2009, Dr SID began recording his solo debut album “Turning Point” under Mo’ Hits Records, featuring hit singles like “Something About You.” The album was released in 2010, with the single “Over the Moon” reaching number 1 on the Nigerian top 10. In 2012, following the fallout of partners at Mo’ Hits Records, Dr SID signed with Don Jazzy’s Mavin Records. He contributed three songs to the Mavin Records compilation album titled “Solar Plexus.”
Siduction and Further Ventures
In 2013, Dr SID released his sophomore album, “Siduction,” featuring collaborations with Tiwa Savage, Ice Prince, Wizkid, and others. This marked a significant milestone in his musical journey.
